If you'd like to know more about Fèis Ìle, and the schedule of events for 2023, take a look at the official festival website. The festival is dog friendly, however you will not be able to bring your dog into the distillery building. As well as a selection of unique distillery tours, we'll also have several non-ticketed attractions happening in and around the distillery and nearby pub, meaning you're bound to find something to suit every taste. We're so excited to welcome everyone to Jura for this year's Fèis Ìle on Friday 2nd June, and we have a whole host of fun and exciting plans to make sure everyone gets the most out of their time on our beautiful island. Whilst much of the activity takes place on Islay over a 10-day period, we host our own Jura Fèis Ìle Day where guests are welcomed to the visitor centre for a unique whisky experience (and, if you’re really lucky the chance to sample our exclusive Fèis Ìle Edition), followed by live music. Each year, starting the last week in May, the festival welcomes whisky, music and travel fans from around the world to come and celebrate with us. The maltings are sourced from Port Ellen and the peat is from the Isle of Jura.Fèis Ìle (aka the Islay Festival of Malt and Music) is one of Scotland’s biggest whisky festivals. Their stills used to be the tallest, until the Glenmorangie Distillery was built. Jura owns 4 stills 2 wash and 2 spirit stills of 24,500 liters and 15,500 liters of capacity respectively. The Loch a’Bhaile Mhargadh is the main water source of the distillery. In 1985, it was purchased by Invergordon distillers and in 1993, Whyte & Mackay took the control of the distillery. In 1962, Scottish & Newcastle Breweries formed Mackinlay-McPherson in order to make the distillery operational and in 1963, Jura was on its feet again. In 1901, the family reportedly fell into a conflict with the then Laird of Jura, resulting in the dismantling of the distillery. It changed various owners until 1876, when the Ferguson family purchased it. Jura Distillery was founded in 1810, and got its licence in 1831. Jura Distillery is located on the island of Jura in the Inner Hebrides, actually it is really close to the island of Islay.
